Senior Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance) – CNC/VMC Machines
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to lead the upkeep and performance optimization of our CNC and VMC machining systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and leadership in implementing effective maintenance strategies that ensure maximum machine availability and production quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee mechanical maintenance operations for all CNC and VMC machines across the facility.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical failures; minimize unplanned downtime through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and enforce preventive and predictive maintenance schedules using industry best practices.
- Lead continuous improvement projects targeting machine reliability, lifecycle extension, and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation on maintenance activities, breakdown analysis, and spare part usage.
- Collaborate with electrical, automation, and production teams for coordinated maintenance efforts.
- Monitor critical machine parameters and proactively address performance deviations.
- Manage maintenance budgets, procurement of machine spares, and service contracts.
- Mentor and guide maintenance technicians; conduct skill development sessions and on-the-job training.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 6-8+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with strong exposure to CNC/VMC machining systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems including spindles, guideways, ball screws, and hydraulic/pneumatic circuits.
- Hands-on experience with controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or Mitsubishi.
- Solid understanding of TPM, 5S, and lean maintenance principles.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, mechanical schematics, and maintenance manuals.
- Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
